Chuo Board

In the Hakka language, it is simply called “board.” It is made of 3 pieces of solid black wood. 2 of the pieces are tied together and linked with a third one by a strong through a hole. The third one hits the two tied together and makes a “ge ge” sound. It is used to impart rhythm to the music. The lead performer is responsible for it. Now it has been replaced by bamboo clappers.

It is one of the Beiguan instruments.
